How do you choose the right stone?
Hardness and finish are engineering decisions; colour and veining are taste. High-traffic floors want denser stones that keep their polish under grit and foot traffic. Bathrooms favour honed finishes for grip. Outdoors, polished marble becomes slippery when wet and dulls in direct sun, so flamed or honed is the correct call. We put physical samples in your actual light and layout before a slab is cut, because stone rarely looks the same in a showroom as it does in your entrance hall.
Why do marble-and-metal staircases need one workshop?
The signature modern UAE staircase — marble treads on a steel stringer with glass or stainless balustrades — is two trades pretending to be one. The stone must be templated to the metal, balustrade fixings must land where the stone permits, and both sets of tolerances have to agree. Stone choice, more than anything else — the spread between a dependable beige marble and an imported statement stone is several-fold per square metre before any labour. After that: surface finish, edge profiles, stair nosing details and installation complexity. We quote per area, itemised, so the budget conversation happens against real numbers rather than a lump sum.
How is marble installed properly?
Stone rewards preparation and punishes shortcuts, and installation is where both show. Floors need a flat, cured, primed substrate; we check levels before a single slab leaves the workshop, because grinding a floor flat through polished marble is miserable, dusty work that proper screed preparation avoids entirely. Layout is dry-planned so veining flows and cut tiles land where furniture and thresholds hide them, not in the doorway sightline. Wet areas get waterproofing confirmed before stone goes down. Stairs are set tread by tread against the templated metalwork, nosings aligned through the flight. Counters arrive with cut-outs machined and edges finished, and are bedded, levelled and sealed in one visit. Every installation ends with sealing appropriate to the stone and its exposure, plus care guidance — which cleaners are safe, and which supermarket products etch a polished surface in one wipe. We also coordinate protection during the remaining site works — installed stone boarded over until handover — because a finished floor scratched by a following trade is the most avoidable defect in fit-out. On renovation work, we assess whether existing marble can be re-ground, re-polished and re-sealed instead of replaced; restoring a tired but sound floor typically costs a fraction of new stone and keeps the original material's character.
