Gates are the work Al Taher has been known for since 1984. We design, fabricate, powder-coat and install custom metal gates across all seven emirates — cast aluminium, steel and wrought iron, in sliding, swing and automated configurations. Everything happens in our own workshop: cutting, welding, finishing and installation, with no subcontracted steps.

Which gate material should you choose?

The coast usually decides it. Cast aluminium removes rust risk entirely, which matters within reach of salt air. Steel is stronger and takes modern laser-cut panels well — and with correct preparation and powder coating it performs perfectly well here too. We fabricate all four and will tell you which your span, design and budget actually call for.
Sliding or swing?
Space decides this more than taste. Swing gates need clear arc room inside the boundary and suit driveways with depth; they are the classic villa look and simpler mechanically. Sliding gates run along the boundary line and need no swing space, which makes them the answer for short driveways or where the ground slopes. Cantilever sliding systems avoid a floor track altogether — useful where sand and debris would foul a track. We survey the opening and levels before recommending either.
Is gate automation worth it?
Motors, remotes, keypads, intercom integration and safety sensors — specified and installed with the gate rather than bolted on afterwards, which is what keeps the mechanism aligned to the leaf weight. Why does the finish decide the lifespan?
A gate is fully exposed, every day, often near the sea. The metal rarely fails first — the coating does. We powder-coat on our own line at proper preparation and film-thickness standards, because outsourced finishing is where gate quality is usually lost. Our powder coating → · Powder vs paint →
Can railings, fencing and side doors match the gate?
Most gate projects extend to the boundary. We fabricate matching pedestrian side doors, boundary railings and metal fencing in the same pattern and the same powder-coat batch, so the whole entrance reads as one piece of work rather than three approximations.

What does gate maintenance involve?
Very little, if the gate was made properly — which is rather the point. A powder-coated gate needs an occasional wash to remove salt and dust, a yearly check of hinges or rollers with light lubrication, and, on automated gates, a periodic test of the safety sensors and remote batteries. What it should not need is repainting every two years — that schedule is the signature of a wet-painted or poorly prepared gate. We also service and refurbish existing gates, including re-coating older gates on our line where the base metal is sound, which is often far cheaper than replacement.

How long does a custom gate take?
Typically 2–3 weeks from design approval to installation, depending on size, pattern and finish. Automation adds a little. Because fabrication and powder coating both happen in our workshop, your gate is not queued behind a third-party finisher.
Cast aluminium or steel for a UAE villa gate?
Cast aluminium if rust resistance and ornamental detail matter most — especially near the coast. Steel if you need very wide spans, maximum security or modern laser-cut panels. Both perform well when properly coated.
Can you automate an existing gate?
Often yes. During the site visit we assess the gate's weight, frame condition and hinge or track arrangement, then advise whether automation can be retrofitted safely or whether the structure needs strengthening first.
Do you make matching fencing and side doors?
Yes — matching is the usual request. The same pattern, profile and powder-coat colour run through the main gate, pedestrian door and boundary railings.
