Which railing material suits your project?
| Material | Character | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel | Slim posts, corrosion-resistant, low maintenance | Modern interiors and exposed balconies |
| Glass + steel fittings | Maximum light and sightlines | Open-plan villas, sea-view balconies, mezzanines |
| Aluminium | Light, rust-free, any RAL colour | Terraces, budget-conscious balcony runs |
| Wrought iron | Fully custom ornamental patterns | Classical and traditional interiors |
| Marble + metal | Stone treads with metal balustrade | Feature staircases |
Handrail or balustrade — what's the difference?
The balustrade is the whole barrier: posts, infill and top rail. The handrail is the part you grip. They need designing together, because grip height, infill spacing and post positions interact — and a handrail retrofitted to an existing balustrade rarely sits at a comfortable height.
Why do we template on site?
Staircases are almost never built exactly as drawn. Rises vary by millimetres, landings are rarely perfectly square, and a railing fabricated from the architect's drawing ends up with uneven gaps or posts that miss their fixings. We template the actual stair once treads are in, fabricate to those measurements, and install with fixings the structure will genuinely take.
What changes between indoor and outdoor railings?
Indoor railings are chosen mainly on appearance. Outdoors — balconies, terraces, roof edges — salt air changes the specification: stainless or properly powder-coated aluminium, corrosion-resistant fittings, and toughened or laminated glass where glass is used. On coastal balconies it is nearly always the fittings that fail first, not the material, which is why we specify both together.
Which glass is safe in a balustrade?
Glass balustrades use toughened or toughened-laminated glass — never annealed — fixed in channels, clamps or standoff pins rated for the load. Where there is no continuous handrail, laminated glass is generally the correct choice because it holds together on its interlayer if broken. Our glass works →
What does a railing cost, and how long does it take?
Cost follows material, run length, complexity and finish — our railing cost guide breaks it down by material. Typical fabrication and installation is 1–2 weeks from approval, with committed dates written into the quotation.

What does the process look like end to end?
Six steps, one team, dates in writing. Site visit within 48 hours to see the staircase and discuss material and design; itemised quotation within 24 hours of that visit; design confirmation with drawings or reference images where the pattern warrants it; templating on the built staircase once treads are in; fabrication and finishing in our workshop, powder-coated or polished as specified; installation by our own crew, with fixings matched to what the structure will genuinely take. The committed installation date is written into the quotation before fabrication starts — and because nothing leaves our building for finishing, that date does not depend on a third party's queue.
Itemised quotation within 24 hours of the visit — no charge, no obligation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a handrail and a balustrade?
The balustrade is the entire barrier — posts, infill and rail. The handrail is the graspable part. They should be designed together, since grip height and infill spacing depend on each other.
Are glass balustrades safe on staircases?
Yes when specified correctly: toughened or toughened-laminated glass fixed in load-rated channels, clamps or standoff pins. Ordinary annealed glass is never acceptable. The fittings carry the safety function as much as the glass does.
Which railing material lasts longest outdoors in the UAE?
Stainless steel and properly powder-coated aluminium both perform well. The deciding factor outdoors is usually fitting quality — cheap fixings corrode on a coastal balcony long before the railing material itself does.
How long does a stair railing take?
Typically 1–2 weeks from design approval. Site templating happens first so the railing is fabricated to your actual staircase rather than to a drawing.
Can you match a new railing to existing metalwork?
Yes. Matching an existing gate pattern or a balustrade elsewhere in the property is routine — the same profiles and powder-coat colour run through both.
